SUSTAIN-IT
SUSTAIN-IT empowers TVET providers in Namibia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda to address climate change through environmental monitoring, digitalisation and
innovative teaching methodologies. The project equips teachers and students with green and digital skills, including IoT technologies, Challenge-Based Learning and social entrepreneurship approaches, fostering youth engagement in sustainability while improving the attractiveness, inclusiveness and labour-market relevance of TVET education.

Africa faces significant environmental challenges linked to climate change, resource management and sustainable development. At the same time, TVET
institutions often lack the digital tools, pedagogical methodologies and infrastructure needed to prepare learners for the green and digital transition.
In Namibia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda, environmental education is not yet fully integrated into vocational training systems, while the adoption of digital
technologies remains uneven. Teachers often lack opportunities for professional development in digital skills, innovative teaching approaches and
environmental monitoring techniques.
SUSTAIN-IT was created to address these needs by strengthening the capacity of TVET providers and educators. The project combines environmental
sustainability, digitalisation and entrepreneurship to empower teachers and students to become active agents of change. Through the use of IoT technologies, sensors and citizen-science approaches, participants will learn how to monitor environmental parameters, analyse data and develop practical solutions to local sustainability challenges.
The project also contributes to major European and African priorities related to green transition, digital transformation, youth empowerment, gender equality
and quality education. By promoting inclusive teaching methodologies and increasing the participation of women in STEM-related pathways, SUSTAIN-IT
supports more equitable and future-oriented vocational education systems.

01. Needs analysis and stakeholder engagement in Namibia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda.
02. Design Thinking sessions involving educators, communities, SMEs and public stakeholders.
03. Development of a MOOC on digital skills and environmental monitoring.
04. Creation of an e-Toolbox covering Challenge-Based Learning, social entrepreneurship and inclusive teaching.
05. Organisation of expert training activities for TVET teachers.
06. Development and pilot implementation of environmental monitoring use cases.
07. Distribution and use of IoT kits and sensors in participating institutions.
08. Establishment of an EU-African Community of Practice.
09. National workshops, seminars and thematic webinars.
10. Communication, dissemination and sustainability activities to maximise impact and long-term exploitation.
