In an increasingly interconnected world, young people face complex challenges such as climate change, social inequalities, digital transformation and democratic participation. Addressing these issues requires not only technical knowledge but also the ability to understand how social, environmental and economic systems interact. However, many young people have limited opportunities to engage in meaningful intercultural dialogue and collaborative learning experiences that help them develop these competences.

SYNAPSE responds to this need by bringing together youth and youth-serving organisations from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa through innovative virtual
exchanges. The project introduces systems thinking as a practical framework that enables participants to analyse interconnected challenges, explore multiple
perspectives and co-create sustainable solutions. Through accessible and inclusive digital learning environments, SYNAPSE promotes intercultural understanding, leadership development and active citizenship.

The project places young people at the centre of the learning process, empowering them not only as participants but also as co-creators of activities, discussions and outcomes. Special attention is given to the inclusion of young women, youth with disabilities and young people from rural or underrepresented communities, ensuring that diverse voices contribute to shaping future policies and community actions.
